When a member of staff identifies that they are experiencing work-related mental health difficulties, then you have a legal obligation to respond.

This response needs to be supportive, reassuring, make reasonable adjustments and be recorded. This is where employers should complete the Individual Stress Risk Assessment Tool. This Tool helps you to:

  • Identify the hazards that are negatively affecting the individual
  • Identify what things they are accessing that is helping them
  • Understand what else could help the individual
  • Identify other mechanisms for supporting the staff member
