Do You Have Health and Safety Mental Health Gaps?
Meeting your statutory responsibilities for employee wellbeing can be daunting, especially considering that very often it’s expectations that have been acquired without training.
That wouldn’t be allowed for the staff you are responsible for, so why should it be acceptable for you.
And that’s why this Hub exists, it’s a place that you can come to get your mental health and wellbeing health and safety training. Not only are we the only provider of this vital topic, but our courses come at no-risk to you. We will teach you about psychosocial risks, how to identify them and what to do about them.
And even better, each is covered by its own guarantee, meaning that if we don’t have an impact, you get your money back.
Statutory Mental Health Health and Safety Duties
The legal requirements relating to mental health of staff exist in multiple countries. For example, in the UK the Health and Safety Executive state that “Employers have a legal duty to protect workers from stress at work by doing a risk assessment and acting on it. This is the same duty you have to protect people from other health and safety risks.“
We work with organisations around the globe who are concerned that they are not completely meeting their statutory duties, there are gaps in their provision or even they feel so overwhelmed that they don’t know where to start. This is the one area of Health and Safety that people don’t talk about, it’s the most complex and the most important in the post-pandemic workplace.
We want you to feel empowered to have confidence in your abilities in risk assessing and meeting the mental health requirements of your organisation.
We have a range of solutions to help you be assured that you will walk away with the skills and knowledge that you require.
Mental Health Risk Management Pathway
Managing mental health risks at work goes beyond completing a risk assessment. Organisations need to be prepared to identify and prevent risks, respond when concerns arise, and provide an appropriate response when someone is in crisis.
Our solutions support you across these different stages of mental health risk management, giving you the knowledge, skills and confidence to know what to do and when.
Explore the three stages of our approach:
PREVENT
Risk Assessing Mental Health
Identify psychosocial hazards, assess the risks, put appropriate controls in place and address gaps in your Health & Safety approach.
RESPOND
Responding to Staff Mental Health
Know how to respond when worker discloses a work-related stress, including understanding contributing factors and appropriate workplace adjustments.
REACT TO CRISIS
Mental Health First Responders
Build the confidence and willingness to respond when a colleague is experiencing a mental health crisis, helping them feel safe and access the appropriate support.
Risk Assessing Mental Health
Organisations have a duty to identify and manage psychosocial risks, but risk assessing mental health can take you into areas outside your usual expertise.
Our solutions provide practical support to help you meet your responsibilities and work through the five-step process.
Responding to Staff Mental Health
When a staff member discloses that they are experiencing work-related mental health or stress difficulties, you have a duty to respond to them.
This should include factors contributing towards their stress and reasonable adjustments that are being made in the workplace.
To do this, many businesses use the Individual Stress Risk Assessment Tool. This is a Tool that should be completed at direct line-management level whenever possible. It is completed with the staff member prior to any arrangements or signposting being put in place. This Tool then forms part of your organisation’s evidence of meeting legal duties around care for staff.
To support the roll out of the Tool across organisations, we have developed solutions to train managers, HR professionals and others who may be involved in completing the Tool with members of staff.

Mental Health First Responders
Mental Health First Aiders are there to act in an emergency, just the same as First Aiders, they recognise a number of conditions and provide emergency aid. Appointed persons are given life-saving skills training to act in an emergency. Likewise, Mental Health First Responders are trained to act in an emergency – when a colleague is in distress, crisis or overwhelm.
Mental Health First Responders and Mental Health First Aiders are not a control measure to reduce the likelihood of staff mental health difficulties, they do, however form part of your organisation’s response to a mental health emergency and ensure someone is safe and that they are able to access the care they need.
